The PhonicsToolkit is designed to assist you in understanding where your child is on their reading and spelling journey. 
 
Phonics is fundamental used across schools in the UK to help children learn to read and spell, this checklist will help to identify any gaps in their knowledge, showing any sounds they could work on.
 
The idea is to work through the sections (not all at once) to see IF there are any sounds of skills that your child struggles with/is unsure of. These sections include:
Individual sounds - does your child know and recognise these?
Real and Nonsense words - Nonsense words are helpful to check if your child is able to decode the word using their sounds instead of recognising the word visually.
