Phonics: Reading and Spelling
Reading and spelling go beyond just phonics and phonological awareness. Together, we’ll explore the best ways to support your child’s learning, tailoring strategies to suit their unique needs. This means identifying any challenges with phonological awareness and phonics, then using an engaging, multisensory approach to help them succeed. That’s where I come in!
How can I help?
When I was first introduced to phonics, it felt unfamiliar, almost like another language.
But when I began teaching children who struggled with reading and spelling, I quickly realised that, despite their various challenges, one common factor stood out: phonological awareness and a fun, multisensory approach to phonics were essential.
Learning to read and spell should be centred around the child's interests, learning styles (visual, auditory, kinaesthetic), and the specific difficulties they encounter. Children can overcome barriers and make meaningful progress by recognising and embracing these three elements.
Progress looks different for every learner—it’s a journey.
As adults, we can either make that journey long and frustrating or transform it into something engaging, enjoyable, and full of discovery.
Get in touch today, and let’s work together to support your child in unlocking the joy of reading and writing!
